My factory stero does not work in my 1991 corvette the radio comes on plays the cd changes radio stations but all i here is the alternator whine from the speakers... Where do i start? help please

You have to remove not only the stereo from the dash, but the reciever located in the passenger side rear compartment as well, it's in the VERY BOTTOM of the compartment. The speakers ( all 4) need replacing as they will not work with aftermarket stereos either. You MIGHT be able to reuse the speaker wire, but good luck with that as the ohms aren't the same.
The next issue is that the dimmer sensor, located in the front dash, is contected to the bose stereo. When you remove the Bose, you'll get a "Sys" flash on your dash LCD screen every 15-20 seconds. You'll need to buy 1k ohm .5 watt resistors and wire them from a 12v ignition, to the black AND the purple/white wires loacted behind the Bose stereo, in the coupler. You'll see it when you remove the Bose. Remember, you'll need TWO resistors, one to each wire, both to a 12v ignition power source.
All-in-all, not easy to do.

RECHECK THE WIRING TO SPEAKERS AND CHECK THE STERO IS COMPATIBLE TO WIRING.
