ABS dashboard light has started coming on cool, damp mornings.

Good morning I don't know what you are working on but possibly your ignition switch, that would explain why when you turn it off and then turn it back on it works. I don't know if this helps you or not. I know when your switch is going out you will get power to some things power not to others. I hope this helps you good luck

Did u try disconnecting your batt for the night Abdul rehook it up in the morning this should clear your fault codes thanx Chris

When a warning light is on, codes are stored. Get the codes read. That's your starting point. Asking us to guess is a waste of time

the most likely cause is a faulty wheel speed sensor,
there are four,one on each wheel.
you will need to plug in a diagnostic tool to determine which one.

sounds like your abs ring on the axle has come loose

yes its better to go shop and check what is the code so that u can easy to diagnose and repair..some problem of the abs light come in out is some abs defective or loose ,,or the abs motor ssy have problem or sensors in the wheel.

I think the reason it starts and turns off is most likely you fuel pump the abs light on could be the brake fluid level and or the brakes may need replaced.

Ironically I had the "!" inside the "U" come on this morning as well in my 2007 M35x. Oddly this is indicating that you have low tire pressure. I suspect this is happening due to the temperature change. At least for me as I live in New England and it was very cold this morning.

anne, it sounds to me like dampness in the ignition process, if the engine is turning over at the turn of the key,then check the rubber ring seal inside your distributer cap(thats the coloured plastic cap with all the leads to the spark plugs) if its perished or showing signs of distortion,replace the whole cap. if its seems ok then try starting your engine at night or at least grey dark,open the bonnet and watch for sparks coming from any of the HT leads ( cable like things) that go to the spark plugs.If present either spray with "sparkseal"(short term solution) or replace the leads.Try this and if it doesn,t solve it , get in touch ok?

I had the same problem with my Ford Explorer it was caused by what's called a rasp valve for the anti-lock brake's.The valve is mounted on the frame(left side)just behind the tire.The valve look's like the letter T you'll see two or three brake line's going in and coming out of it.It was a dealer only part, which mean's you can get it at a Ford dealership only.
