I have a 95 blazer 4 door. and having the same problem as most of the commenters, I found the problem to be the door latch itself. (driver's side). I pulled the entire door latch out. the electric door lock, the dome light trigger switch and there is one more switch that i'm not sure what it does but all are conected together to the door latch assembly. WARNING this is not a job for the average person. this is a pain in the A** to get out and worse to get back in. but what i found was the electronic part is screwed to the machanical part with 2 small screws, and the two peices came apart slghtly, enough for the gear(s) to jump teeth.( there is a gear on the mechanical part that turns a gear on the electronical part to activate the switch). I realined the gears and put the part back together and it seened to work. the light now goes out after about 30 or 40 seconds.
Solution #1 Sounds right, the ends of the plastic swith plunger wears and won't push the switch all the way. I had to eposy a little piece of plastic rod to my 95 blazers.
Could be a shorted switch leaving it on, but more likely one of the door switches is not working.
Start by closing all doors securely, then open each door, locate the door switch, and press it all of the way down. Does light go out? Try each door separately, with all other doors (and rear hatch) closed.

I had the same problem. WD40 cured this in a flash! Be generous with the WD40 to allow parts to loosen and clean the "gue" that has built-up over the years. Several open and closings of the door should do the trick. Note that cold weather exasperates this condition. The best to you all in the new year!

the part of the door the switch hit my be worn down and you may need some type of spacer if it will go off when you push the switch all the way down

Check the door buttons on each door to see if they are operational. It appears as though your problem is there. One or both of them are loose or broken and needs replacing.

on your interior light switch (dimmer switch) just get in the vehicle close doors and turn the dimmer switch and that should do it

SOURCE: no electrical power to anything - even dome light.
Check battery and chassis earth connections are ok.
Check for 12v power at the fuse/power disrtribution fuse bus; - if no power there, trace circuit wiring back to battery.
