They didn't have a fuel pressure sensor in 2000.... are you referring to the fuel tank pressure sensor? That sensor measures the vacuum/pressure in the fuel tank and is related to evaporative emission control. That sensor is externally located directly on top of the fuel pump on top of the fuel tank. It has a 3-wire connector plugged into it.
The fuel tank pressure sensor on a 1999 GMC Sierra is located on the top of the fuel tank on the fuel pump itself. Most say that you need to drop the fuel tank to replace it but if you have access to a lift you can replace it without removing the fuel tank. By removing the rear U joint straps and moving the driveshaft to the side you can see and access the sensor for replacement. Chock wheels to prevent movement of the vehicle after driveshaft is disconnected.
its probably an in tank filter. look for accsess to fuel pump
through a plate in the boot or under the back seat
some cars theres need to drop the fuel tank to accsess the
pump/filter assy
There is a solenoid that open and closes with 12 volts, usually located close to the fuel filler tube area. This open to allow you to fill your tank, then closes after some inputs for the computer are satisfied, and then a pressure sensor verifies the system is working. First, make sure the cgas cap is tight, and if the light doesn't go away in a couple days of normal driving, get the solenoid checked.
For 2000 GMC Truck Sierra 2500 4WD
5.3L SFI 8cyl the Fuel Filter is located:
Under vehicle, driver side, below seating area, near
fuel tank, mounted on frame rail in fuel line.
my 1998 2500 sierra fuel pump has been replaced inside the fuel tank already, now a year later it's dying again when driving ,like it is not getting fuel at all! I have a 5.7L engine, is there a in line filter somewhere?
Theres only one fuel pump relay, unless you have dual tanks. Be sure you have 55-60 psi fuel pressure. I "think" the oil pressure switch supplies power to the fuel pump after the engine is running.
there is a filter under the pickup near the tank it gets plugged with dirt or dust and it makes the fuel come back at you while filling .. which in turn shuts off the gas nozel.. clean the filter and this will fix your problem.. thanks and holler if you need more Jerry
