How do I replace the trunk light in my 2003 mercedes benz c240? I tried to pry out the light cover (appears to be a slot to put in a screw driver or similar tool for this purpose) but it seemed like the light fixture was going to break. Also, there is no Model selection available for C240, please add. Also, please add 2003 for the year

Looks the RFDI chip in the key is defect. Your Mercedes car dealer should be able to help you with that.
Fist to make sure it is a chip problem in the key and second by replacing the chip and the code and / or replacing the battery it an empty battery is the issue.

Try checking the key reader it's usually a plastic ring around the key barrel. If it's dies will not read code in key to enable the car to start. Check your key is sending a code as well.

Pry the lamp assembly off with a flat screw driver, you must pry it off from right to left only. do not pry in front or back or on the left because you will damage the assy. This works for a MB c240 2005.

you will more than likely have to pull the door panel off. If so there will be a few screws and a series of plug style clips. Have a good look at it, start with the screws and then start on one side and start prying the clips out, you will need to be firm when pulling. Just take your time and it will work. From there you should be able to see the switch, and it will be just a matter of unplugging the old one and replacing with the new unit.
