If it's a US car then there is not an egr on the 2.2L engine. I think some of the mexican and oversea's engines had them, but not here in the US.

I've dismantled egr valve on 2006 nissan patrol zd30, there is a metal gasket and I cannot remember where it goes?

Metal gasket goes toward the intake & egr valve

Gasket first,egr next, then the bolts

If you took the egr apart, you may as well buy a new one

Can't clean it anyway

1999 chevy malibu ran hot and would not crank. changed egr valve and not cranks but runs very rough and not sure oil is getting to head.

you overheated it and then it would not turn over?i would check for anti freeze mixing with the oil and then do a compression test on all of the cylinders in case you blew a head gasket

Where is thermostat located in a 2006 Chevy Malibu LT, 6cyl 3.5 L?

normally thermostats are located at the end of where the top radiator hose connects to the intake manifold, there should be at least 2 -3 bolts holding the thermostat housing on, radiator will have to be drained low enough in order to remove the hose, and housing. and thermostat, and gasket.

Chevy 2002 Malibu ERG valve

Symptoms of a bad EGR valve are usually stumbling idle or the engine stalling when the car is warm (normal operating temperature). Find the EGR valve and locate the vacuum line attached to it. Start the engine cold and wait for it to warm up. When the engine starts to stumble, pull off the vacuum line. If the EGR is bad, the engine idle will stabilize and no longer stumble.

Check engine light is on. I was told it is the EGR. How do I locate the EGR on this vehicle? The code is P004. 2002 Chevy Express with 5.7 ltr. engine.

http://www.autoguide.net/apf/chevy-engine_parts/express_2500-2002-air_intake-b7010_148259del.html well it should be near the front of the intake manifold, you will see the EGR valve ( which looks like the thing on the web site link). Disconnect the electrical connector, remove the two 10 mm head bolts, remove the lead coated gasket from the intake. Be sure to clean the surface of all evidence of the gasket, using care to not get any into the intake. Place the new gasket on the EGR valve, using the bolts to keep it in place, put the new EGR on the intake. Tighten the bolts up evenly, plug the connector back in, hope this helps

Egr valve flow insufficient

Check for

vacuum leaks on intake manifold,

the air tube between the air filter.

intake manifold vacuum hose.

===
clean throttle plate with Berryman carburator cleaner

SEE sample picture HERE
===

Also remove carbon built up behind the EGR valve and the EGR passage tube.

===

Vacuum leak WILL offset the intended 14.7 to 1 air fuel ratio.

More un-metered air (leaks) will lean out the fuel mixture.

Use small amount of Berryman carb clearer at potential air leak area will help you identify trouble spot.

At idle,just spray and listen for the RPM surge.

The in-rush of carb clearer will increase the RPM on the motor.

Record the problem spot(s) and address it later.

===

EGR carbon built up require 2+ hours to clean from start to finish.

You will need a new EGR base gasket before your start.

Locate and remove the EGR valve after the vehicle is cool down.

Carefully record the connector and vacuum line (for older vehicle) location by drawing an easily to follow diagram.

Remove the EGR valve.

Inspect the location of the carbon built-up inside the valve and the EGR passage tube.

SOAK these areas with WD-40 spary.

You will need a small screwdriver,cloth hanger and lot of newspaper and time to get this cleaning done right.

RE-SOAK the carbon and let it sit for over-night will also help.

One the last round,pass a shop vacuum of the EGR valve and the passage pipe.

Install the new EGR gasket and connectors.

Allow the vehicle to warm up outdoor to burn up any remaining WD-40.

Take it for a test drive.

1998 Chevrolet Malibu - Is trembling when I come to a stop light it trembles as if it wants to shut off but does not. i changed the spark plugs, and the tray as I was told that may be the problem. however...

Did you also change the spark plug wires??? If not you may want to since there pron to burn out do to the extra heat around the newer engines with tighter engine bays. The other thing to that will cause ruff idle is a dirty EGR valve or a stuck EGR valve. The EGR valve get's dirt with carbon build up and will cause the engine to idle ruff. Remove the EGR valve and clean it with a can of throttle body cleaner and don't forget to buy a new gasket for the EGR. If the EGR is to far gone to clean then just replace it. If there is an Auto Zone close to you, have the car scanned for any DTC codes just to make sure it's not something else that is causing the bad idle. Good luck and keep me posed. Be glad to help
