Could be a dozen different things. Is the check engine light on ? Does it happen at the same time or under the same conditions ? Does it start back up or do you have to wait ?
Have your mechanic check the oil pressere with a scanner or a manual gauge if pressure is different from gauge it needs a sender or the gauge needs replaced
you will have to remove the thermostat & place in a saucepan or the like & cover it with cold water, & gradually bring the water up to boiling point to see if the thermostat opens, if it does'nt it is faulty & needs replacing.......hope this helps......cheers.
