Question about 1997 Jeep Wrangler
97 Jeep wrangler 4 cylinder manual. When in neutral, between shifts, coasting or anytime there isn't a load on the drive train, even when parked some times will from time to time get a winning noise in or around the engine. It can stop as easily as it started on it's own. 115 thousand miles and clutch is original and shifts good. This wining noise is definitely in front of the clutch towards engine as opposed to behind. It stops and starts on it's own but has to have been running in gear for a few minutes minimum before this wine kicks in. Only happened for the first time yesterday. Never before.
Sounds like a bearing issue too me. Have your transmission shop take a listen.
