I just bought a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS. Previous owner replaced battery, but does not have the code cards. looking for the process in how to remove radio. Where start? Special tools needed? Need to get serial number to get radio code for dealer. They said they cant get the code from the vin #. Can I get the code without serial number from radio? Thanks for any and all help.
Try another dealer they are able to use the vin as long as the radio has not been changed
I cannot give specific instructions on how to remove that particular radio as i have never done it myself. I will give you a generic set of instructions that can be used for most cars. To remove the radio you must first remove the bezel cover from around the radio by either popping it out and/or removing the screws. There will be several small screws holding the radio to the dashboard remove them, pull the radio slightly out and disconnect the plugs in back. Pull the radio straight out. Installation is the reverse of removal. THESE ARE GENERIC INSTRUCTIONS AND DO NOT APPLY TO EVERY CAR ON THE ROAD AS SOME REQUIRE SPECIAL TOOLS.

I tried dealers across the country by phone, and all said that I needed the serial # from radio. They said that the car could have had another radio swapped into it during assembly. Thanks for the advice. Keep up what you are doing. Like I mentioned, I just bought this and will probably be back with more questions.
