The fan relay is located on the same side of the battery towards the bottom of the radiator. you have to take the battery out to get to it

Location for radiator fan control relay circuit for 1999 Grand Cherokke Laredo.

This relay is a common problem for Chrysler vehicles. Located in the passenger side bumper area (Jeeps). Test the fan first.

Over heating when sitting at idle for a short while

It sounds like it may be your electric cooling fan. When the car is sitting idling does the fan behind the radiator ever come on? If not then this is your problem. Your car doesn't overheat when it moving because you're passing air through the radiator with the movement of the car. The problem could be the fan itself, the fan relay, or a temperature sensor.

I got a 99 jeep grand cherokee laredo with a 4.0 straight 6 and looking for the radiator fan relay...any suggestions???

It's behind the passenger headlight.Need to take off grill,bumper fascia to get access to it.Mine took about an hour alltogether.
