You didn't mention the engine, so here are all options...
4.3 liter V-6 VIN "W" With Enhanced Ignition System
1996 Chevrolet C 1500 P/U 2WD
5.0 liter V-8 VIN "M OR
1996 Chevrolet C 1500 P/U 2WD
5.7 liter V-8 VIN "R "
1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 is for a V8
1-6-5-4-3-2 is for a v6
My 96 chevy 4.3 litre was running rough. Bad exhaust smell and idle was high. My mechanic changed the fuel pressure regulator and then said it was the #6 injector. He changed that too. it was still running rough. I gapped and changed the plugs, checked the dist. cap and rotor, no corrosion. It sputters when you apply the gas, when you let off or drive on flat ground it's not so bad. Any Ideas?
