Toyota Prius - can't open doors, key fob doesn't work nor back-up, car immobilised

Check for one of the door-open switches to be misadjusted. If the door ajar lamp is lit, the remote locking system will not work. Also check that a second key-fob is not inside the car. The smart locking system will not allow you to accidentally lock the key fob inside the car and will cycle the lock back to the unlocked position immediately if the fob is sensed by the inside-the-car sensor(s).

Yes,the lock mechanism has either gone bad and needs replaced or is disconnected from the system.Whether it be accidentally disconnected while repairs being done or wire fell loose,pull the door panel and check it.If connected and has power when checked with a test light,it should work.If has power and no action,replace it.

there maybe a fault with the drivers door. if it used to be able to start before without the fob. then there would be a fault with the lock. only other way is to get the pass code from toyota but they may not have it as it is a 1995. the only other way is to have the immobiliser sent off to a company that can retrieve the code from the unit and make a new fob for it. can cost a lot. but if you change anything you still need the pass code unless you get another ecu immobiliser alarm and fob from another car. then it should all work then. but make sure it is a set.

May be keyfob needs reprogramming.

Keyfob remote reprogramming is not very difficult but on some cases it can be done by dealer service tools.

If the remote s faulty then key fob will not get programmed.

Insert the key in ignition. Turn the key to on position, and cycle the key three times off-on-off-on-off-on. Then with the key fob remote select your remote and then try to operate the vehicle with remote.

These are just the basic procedure, but sometimes it will not help.

On that case dealer is the only option.

Try with brand new key fob battery and see.If that helps.
Otherwise May be keyfob needs to be reprogrammed.

If your key fob has just stopped working try this:

1. Unlock your vehicle with the key in the drivers door lock, do not open the door.
2. Press the right hand button lock button (the button with the padlock symbol or the dimpled button) on the key fob 4 to 8 times.

If the above fails try this:

1. Open the key fob
2. Remove the battery
3. Press any button 10 ten times, and the same with the other button
4. Refit the battery or a new battery
5. Unlock the vehicle with the key in the drivers door lock, do not open the door
6. Press the right hand button lock button (the button with the padlock symbol or the dimpled button) on the key fob 4 to 8 times

Replace the battery in the remote.

I had the same problem with 2007 Prius.
Before doing the resetting procedure, look under the steering wheel and see if there is a "key" button. Mine had been pushed in,inadvertently during an inspection, which immobilized the "smart" operation. Simply pushing the button solved the problem.

On key fob, slide small button on short edge next to where ag fixes and pull the ag! Voila!

Not a solution just another problem...Lost my car fob key, have a replacement key no circuit. As I open door, sets off immobiliser like above for20 mins. I had someone look under the glove compartment but that got me no joy. How can I (non techy) resolve this so I can drive my baby home...Vreg Avensis1.8 model?
