Code p0139 is a problem with the REAR oxygen sensor on the drivers side. Tho problem is caused by one of the following...
The Exhaust system is leaking
or
The Wiring to the sensor is damaged
or
The Sensor itself is faulty
Hope this helps you
Best of luck..

Oxygen sensor response not as expected.Oxygen sensor response slower than minimum required switching frequency,code P0139 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

  • The oxygen sensor is faulty
  • The wiring to the sensor is broken / frayed
  • There is an exhaust leak
    • Check and fix any exhaust leaks
    • Check for wiring problems (shorted, frayed wires)
    • Check the frequency and amplitude of the oxygen sensor (advanced)
    • Check for a deteriorating / contaminated oxygen sensor, replace if necessary
    • Check for inlet air leaks
    • Check the MAF sensor for proper operation ,I hope this helps

Testimonial: "Thanks. Must be a oxygen sensor failure, there are not leaks. The problem begins just after I take fuel in a unreliable gas-station."

    Where is this sensor located and how easily is it replaced. I have a 2007 compass with the same code indicator

2001 Nissan Maxima service engine light stays on code from Auto Zone scanner is PO139 and PO138. What should my next step be to solve this problem.

code p 0138 refers to 2 items
1--heated oxygen sensor(HO2S) 2 bank 1--high voltage ==causes --wiring short to positive --HO2S---ECM
2--oxygen sensor (O2S) 2 bank 1--high voltage ===causes wiring short to positive ---ECM
code p 0139 refers to 2 items
1--- heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) 2 bank 1--slow response ===causes --heating inoperative --wiring--ECM
2--oxygen sensor (o2S) 2 bank 1 slow response ===causes --wiring --- O2S

heated oxygen sensors9HO2S) are in the exhaust manifold before the cat converter
Oxygen sensors (O2S) are after the cat converter
it is indicated that the HO2S is faulty-
check the wiring and /or replace both sensors
