It's overheating...
Could be...water pump failing, low coolant level, thermostat not working, coolant fan not working, a head gasket leak, or a plugged radiator.

You are hot, hot, hot. All the traditional items for overheat should be checked:

  • antifreeze level
  • thermostat
  • signs of an ongoing leak
  • water pump flow
  • obstructed cooling system

Because either its hot/overheating, or the head gasket is bad pressurizing the cooling system.

SOURCE: 2000 chevy malibu keeps overheating

hi this could be caused by a couple of things, thermostat not opening is one of the main one, fan heater switch on the radiator is another, and obviously water leak is another, the first one thermostat, can replaced relatively cheaply, for a few bucks, you could do it yourself if you have the correct tools, to find out if it is thermostat, fill water first, run motor till it starts to get hot, feel the hoses on either side of the radiator ( top and bottom hoses be careful not to burn yourself in the process) if one is very hot, and the other is warm to cold, that will be the thermostat, second, the radiator fan switch, fill water, run motor, watch temp Gage, if by the time it has reached over half way on the temp Gage and the rad fan has still not cut in then this is normally a sign the switch on the radiator is u/s and needs replacing ( check fuse for fan to and relay this will also stop fan from working ) also to check for leaks, fill water, ( try not to spill any ) then if available a large cloth or sheet under car, run engine ( making sure first the other items have been checked ) and just observe for dripping water hope this helps

SOURCE: Coolant boiled and no check engine light!

You would need to check out the different cooling components. The radiator cap, thermostat, fan for radiator (car should run at 195 degrees), is anything blocking the face of the radiator, are any of the cooling hoses kinked or collapsed, is the water pump circulating the coolant, is thw belt still on the water pump?

SOURCE: Location of thermostat and replacement

Finding the thermostat is easy. Just follow the top radiator hose back to the engine.
The question I have is how to get to the bottom screw of the thermostat housing.

Any Sugustions anyone?

SOURCE: car overheating, coolant in resevoir cold,

Check that your electric radiator fan is working. When the car is hot and idling it should come on.

Replace your therostat. I had a Chevy Citation that the thermostat would start to open and then close instead of opening all the way.

Why is water overflowing my resivor on my pathy

If I understand correctly, your coolant (water) is overflowing out of your resevoir? Either you have too much coolant, and it doesn't have any place to go, or it is boiling over. Remeber even water expands when hot.

Where does the overflow hose drain out.....the location

The overflow drains and picks up coolant from the overflow bottle, or coolant resevoir. This is the same bottle where you top off your antifreeze. Usually located near the radiator.

I just bought a farm fresh neon. It started right up after sitting for about a year. As it warmed up the top radiator hose was collapsing. now it seems fine but when I shut down i get water boiling in...

Unfortunately, if your coolant overflow tank is bubbling, that generally means that the head gasket is blown. The air or boiling in your overflow tank is from the heat in the head that seeps into the water jackets forcing air bubbles into your cooling system. Good luck.

I have a 2000 Expedition and I believe I have a coolant leak and I can see that all the coolant that I add to the coolant plastic tank trickles down over transmission housing next to the oil pan. What...

Don't overfill the coolant resevoir when adding coolant. There is a cold and hot fill line on the resevoir. Excess coolant will spill out through overflow tube on resevoir.
