In 2002 Toyota Echo, I need to replace blower motor. There is also a resistor and a ''blower switch'' in a manual, but no explanation of the blower switch. Is this just the 'fan switch' on the dash. Also, my 'resistor' has a switch in it. Is the resistor supposed to be an assembly with a switch? It fails resistance check per procedure, so seems like it.

Blower switch is your fan knob on dash. resistors are located under pass side dash next to blower motor. on alot of cars the blower will work on high speed and not the lower ones- this is a tell tale way to tell the resistor is no good. if this happens again after replacing resistor- ive seen the blower motor shorting out causing the resistor to go bad- then you would have to replace both.(this usually dosnt happen, most often the resistor alone fixes the problem..

My defroster, heater and air conditioner doesn't work in my 2001 toyota echo no air comes out when I turn either one on help please

Try all fan speed settings to determine if you have air flow on any (particularly High speed). I don't know the specifics of your Echo, but typically high speed is a straight-through connection for power to the blower motor.
If high speed works but none of the slower speeds do, the issue is very likely the blower motor resistor or the resistor connector.
If none of the speeds work, there might be a bad fuse for the blower motor or the motor itself might be bad.
If you can hear the blower on all speeds but still no air is coming out the vents, the issue might be either a damaged diverter door that is not properly directing air flow or possibly something got sucked in to the blower motor squirrel cage and is severely restricting air flow. -Rod

Video how to to change the blower fan on toyota Echo 2002

This blower fan in the 2002 Toyota Echo is located under the dashboard on the passenger side of the vehicle. It is covered by a plastic panel that snaps into place and shields the motor from accidental damage. When the blower fan fails, air will not come out of the vehicle's vents despite the fan control speed setting. A replacement blower motor can be purchased from a certified Toyota dealerships or any auto parts store

How do you replace the blower motor resistor in a 2001 toyota echo, blower only works when set to full speed leads me to believe it is the resistor from searching information, just need to figure out how...

The resistor pack is almost always close to the blower. It needs air moving across it to keep it cool. It is usually installed into the duct with two small screws. It has a connector with about 5 -6 wires, and is about 3/4 inch wide, and about 3-4 inches long. Some can be a little difficult to get out due to clearance, and their shape.

Also, it could be the fan speed switch that's giving you problems.

I have a 2002 Nissan Maxima, and the blower motor will only work on high. I have replaced the switch(resistor), and the motor. When you turn the blower motor switch on, the lights lite up, but motor will...

you replaced the switch or the resistor. They are two different parts. The resistor should be located near the blower motor. Since high speed bypasses the resistor I would say the resistor is the problem.

Also you didn't mention if you had auto heat, auto heat with navigation, or manual heat. It can make a difference in how to approach your problem. The info I provided above would be for manual heat since it is more common.

For more info on blower motor diagnoses you can click here. Your would be a ground side controlled system since the switch supplies the path to ground.
