Means you have a blown bulb or you need to replace the.... oh i cant remember the exact name right now but go to autozone or whereever and tell them you need the fuse like thing that makes your blinkers work its only a few dollars
Right side brake light was not working, replaced with another bulb and still did not work, tried to replace fuse and now the blinkers do not work, nor the brake light.
Had the same problem only with the right side...i fixed it by replacing the circuit board all three bulbs plug into inside the plastic cover...the "plug-ins" get corroded...
This occurs when the flasher unit is faulty. Look for it next to the fuse block, under dash at driver side. Take it with you for comparison purposes and get a replacement at an autoparts store. Hope this helped and best wishes.

I had the same problem with my 1999 Yukon. The electric board needed to be replaced. Rust starts to build up and shorts out or blows the bulb. The dealership charged $73.60 for the part and I installed it myself (Saved $30).

If new bulbs don't work, it is probably the harness that holds the bulb. I had to replace both on my car after fighting with the problem for over a year and not knowing.
SOURCE: turn signals blinking fast and stop when brakes applied
likely not, but change /check anyhow....If problem persists, likely you will need to change the module that controls directionals (usually under dash to the right of steering column)

any increase in bink speed is direcly related to a bulb being burt out.
