My battery without fail loses its charge when the weather changes (starts getting cold around OCT/NOV and my battery starts dying) every year. Car seems to run ok after a jump but the same thing will happen in a day or two. This started happening again last weekend for this year and my battery is less than a year old (got it last November when I was having my car jumped nearly every day).
This is what I have done:
* Battery and alternator were tested positive at AutoZone
* Checked the easiest possibilities
- Trunk/dome/glove compartment light
- Radio shutting off when car is off
- Tightened gas cap
- Making sure automatic locks not trying to lock (they are broken so the keyless remote does not work)
Maybe I’m missing something?? I don’t know what else to do without forking over all of my money for diagnostics and electrical problems!
Thanks!!

I had the same problem in a 1997 SC2. Turns out that finicky/broken door lock/unlock switches were causing an intermittent short.
I removed the 20A fuses to these locks in the switch panel under the radio. Problem fixed.

If you connect a 12VDC test light in line, between your + battery post & + battery cable,(cable off battery obviously) the light will stay lit brightly as long as there is a draw. Keep in mind your radio will cause some due to memory function, clock etc. Pull stereo/radio fuse to eliminate that draw, then start removing fuses, and putting them back, watch light. If it dims, or goes out, you've found the source of your current draw. I have had to resort to pulling them all,(after making notes for anything I needed to remember about where they were) to get light to go out, then re-installing one by one & watching light. When it comes on nice & bright, note which fuse slot, and pull it back out and continue on, in case of more than one draw.
SOURCE: possible bad alternator?
I went through three alternators before we found a good one for our saturn sl2. Now she has been good for two years. All I did was go back to where we bought it from, they hooked up the alternator to a machine and gave us a new one when it read that it was faulty.
