I could not find an auxiliary release for the lid in the trunk. So I tried the suggestion to push on the fuel door while someone pulled the inside lever. It didn't open but I could hear the latch moving, so I knew the cable was functioning. Using my finger tips and finger nails I pried on the fuel door while my partner kept pulling back on the lever and finally it pulled open. There are 2 thin sheet metal springs that pop it open when the latch is retracted. One became twisted and wrapped itself around the fuel door component that engages the latch, so instead of popping open the door it retained it. I reshaped the spring to its original shape, so now it collapses when latched and springs open when released. Note: the plastic wire that holds the gas cap was loose and I suspect became jammed between the spring and latch, changing the spring's shape. I will get a new plastic fastener to reattach it and prevent it from lodging between the latch and door component..

  1. have someone push in on door while you pull lever
  2. look inside trunk at area of filler tube for a latch or 'rip cord' to open it.

Most cars have an emergency fuel filler door release somwhere in the trunk. Look for some kind of pull cord close to the area of the outside fill door.

Where is the fuel door release button on a bmw 525d 2005? or is there one, jus have one for a few days and cant refill the fuel

Unlocking the front drivers door usually unlocks the fuel filler cap. With the front door unlocked, push the side of the fuel filler door in and it will open.

Let us know if that works.

Central locking problem. all doors except the passenger door at rear behind driver unlock this one is permantly locked any ideas

Put your ear close to the door and activate the lock/unlock. If you hear click click there is a loose/disconected lever which is moving without activating the lock. If you hear nothing something is stuck or dead. Open door panel and clean system then check again. Might need replacing the unit in the door.

Trunk will not open fuel door will not open all fuses ok

You have listed the vehicle is a 1987 Jaguar XJ6. The trunk is not electronic and only unlocks with the key as well as both the gas doors. Any issues here then it is your key or the actual trunk latch. If you do have a 1988 model year then the trunk lock has 3 positions. locked all the time, unlocked all the time or the vertical position locks and unlocks with the vehicles drivers door lock. If the trunk button (paddle) is loose and moves but nothing happens then the inside rod has come loose and you will have to manually operate the latch by removing the license plate and taking a long screw driver through the lower plastic bungs. The fuel flap is a separate unite and does have a manual release but you need to open the trunk to get to it. If the fuel flap stays locked all the time then the actually filler neck module will need replacing. If you have a 1997 which has the electronic release button to open the trunk (95-2003) Then you will need to firstly lock all door and unlock the drivers door 2 times. Check the fuel flap is now released, if not then the fuel flap actuator located on the filler neck inside the trunk is bad. If the trunk does not open with the remote, inside car switch and trunk mounted switch then the passenger side trunk harness is broken. Open the trunk with the key and on the right(passenger) hinge there is a grey plastic cover, remove that cover and carefully peel back the wiring harness cover and you will find 1 or more broken wires. Once the wires are repaired then I recommend you zip tie them in place and retest the trunk release button. If this does not answer any of your questions please feel free to email [email protected]

How to tell if fuel pump is bad 2002 ford expedtion

Have someone standing with their ear next to the fuel filler neck/door while you sit in the driver seat and then insert the key and turn it to the 'Run' position (NOT 'crank'!) The fuel pump should audibly whir for about 1/2 a second or so then stop...... If you hear it, the fuel pump works.
Otherwise you should begin to test the fuse/fusible link which supplies the fuel pump then the relay and other related wiring.

Where is the gas cap release button inside my 1991 Jaguar?

Hi,

Open your trunk lid and on the left hand side (the side of the fuel filler cap) there should be a label that says manual fuel door open. The switch is white and close to the top right by the fuel filler cap on the inside of the trunk. You may have to pull back the carpeting a little to find it as it might be tucked behind. Give it a pull and the fuel door should open.

Best of luck .

Jaguar xjs fuel tank has a filling problem, I can't put more than 3 gallons and then the air pressure stops the filling.

There is a vent tube that runs beside the fuel filler hose to the tank,or in the filler tank that is restricted with something ,or kinked .

Handle besides driver seat for fuel filler cap broken cannot open filler cap to fill up .any other ways of opening

That handle should have been attached to a piece of cable. Locate that cable, and grab it with pliers or vise grips and give it a pull for now, until you can replace mechanism.

Fuel filler release doesn't seem to work

Try this: Have someone pull the release cable. Using a small tool (credit card, plastic knife, anything); see if you can manually "pry" (for lack of a better term) the filler door open. If it DOES open, the fuel door "pop" spring is either broken or compressed to the point that it will not "pop" the door open. The spring is a flat piece of metal, bent into sorta of a "U" shape, and is located at the hinge side. Try this, and get back to me if you need more assistance. Hope this helps.
