I would estimate the part is about 200. Usually there is about a 75 dollar fee for installation. Muffler shop would be keeping old one as part of price.
I suspect that your sender is malfunctioning. Todays speedometers and RPM is sent from a sensor/sender near the drive shaft. A magnet on the drive shaft is sensed and the revolutions are converted to RPM and speed.
This is a common issue with the 03-06 Yukon gauges and is caused by failing gauge motors. It can be repaired though, check this page for details - Yukon speedometer problem there's also a DIY guide there if you like to work on your vehicles yourself.
Hi, this is a common issue on this model, the speedometer operates off of a stepper motor , internal to the guage. this motor can bind, resulting in a needle that hangs up.The only true fix, is to replace the entire instrument cluster. This must be done at a dealer, as it has to be programmed upon replacement.Good luck...Coop

There was not a recall, but there was a class action settlement where GM
agreed to extend the warranty on certain vehicles for this problem.
