Unfortunately, the website I found says there is no on-board method of programming your car for a new key-fob. You have to take the car to a dealer or to a key-maker (who may only charge half as much as the dealer)
On most models, you turn the key switch on but don't start the engine. Push "off" and "warm" to enter the diagnostics program. When 70 appears on the fuel screen, push "off" and "high fan" at the same time and hold until all symbols and numbers appear, then release.
I have the correct answer for you, but it is probably not what you want to hear. A 2001 Cadillac Deville has NO self-programming procedures for remotes. You can add transponder keys if you have the master key, otherwise you need to go to a professional to get them programmed because they need special equipment to communicate with the vehicle.
I would suggest a locksmith before the dealer as they are usually more affordable. We always recommend an ALOA (Associated Locksmiths of America) member, as their code of ethics means they will treat you fair.
I also suggest avoiding the dealer for the actual key fob remotes for your Cadillac Deville. My company sells factory OEM key fob replacements at a steep discount. Check this link to find your vehicle key fob. https://keylessentryremotefob.com/
I have the 2010 Toyota Venza push to start. I lost the original key, so i bought a new key with the remote and its was programmed successful but this remote only had the three buttons on it, instead of four buttons ( Including the Hutch button). So i bought another new remote with the four buttons today and I want to know if it will work when i switch the programmed key into the new remote?
Hello: The keyless entry feature was NOT a factory option available on the 1989 Cadillac SedandeVille. If you have keyless entry it has to be after market. you will have to find out who made the add on unit and how to program it. SORRY
Hello, To answer your question about programming a keyless entry remote you need a scanner tool that has the capability to accomplish this task. A GM Tech 2 or something else that has the ability to do what the Tech 2 does. I know this is not what you want to hear but I am reading it right out of the Cadillac Service Manual. Thank you
Replaced digital dash on 1998 Cadillac DeVille. Receiving error message 'Starter disabled keyless remote' 'Wait 3 min.' After 3 min, car still doen't start.
