XM Radio in 2008 Hyundai Sonata sounds bad

I recently activited the XM radio in my 2008 Hyundai Sonata. The fidelity of the audio is NOT at all "high." FM radio sounds MUCH BETTER... Better stereo seperation, less distortion, clearer-cleaner sound. I would expect the digital audio would to have much better overall fidelity. Has anyone else reported this problem with the XM radio feature of the 2008 Hyundai Sonata factory stereo? If so, are there any solutions?

Same problem here. I repeatedly complained to XM but got no reply. I listen to XM in 2009 Sonata and it was just as bad.

XM is better than AM. Much worse than FM.

XM radio is NOT better than FM. Much of the sound quality is dependent on which Audio Package you have in the vehicle -- there are LOW-END systems and there are HIGH-END systems.

Radio saying loading

Your XM radio may still be under warranty. Sounds like your Set Top Box is faulty/malfunctioning.
Contact your nearest/local Hyundai Dealership Service Department and ask the question. Be sure to have the VIN ((Vehicle Identification Number) handy.

XM radio ''NOT READY'' message

I have had this problem at least a half-dozen times, and the simplest solution is to pull the 2 fuses labeled 'audio 1' and 'audio 2.' It resets the radio, but it will work for a while after that (until I have to do it again). Had the xm unit replaced 3 times, new antenna installed, replaced the antenna connection wire - it always dies within a month.

How do I connect an mp3 to my 2008 sonata?

The 2008 Sonata does not come equipped to plug in a separate MP3 player. The MP3 on the face of the radio/CD player refers to the fact that the CD player will play MP3 files. If you want to play from a separate player, you will have to add an FM modulator or something similar.

I-pod cable for 2008 Santa Fe

car dealers lie and lie and lie...now you know.  Can they replace the radio with the cheaper radio from the Sonata or Tuscon?  Call the area manager and complain.  Or you can burn mp3 cd's that hold about 120 songs each.
