98 mercedes SLK 230 ASR dash light on although seems ok?

In my c class you open the bonnet next to the light lence where the lights for the front goes at the side of this is a plastic clip if you push it slightley to the side it will come out they come out easier than they go back in if its the small repeater on the wing it just pushes to one side not sure which way and it slots out

Have you cleaned and lubed the spring?

the blend door needs repair--need a teardown manual for that mercedes--can be a job even for pros

when this light is on there is a fault in braking system is caused by a faulty brake switch make sure when replacing switch it is set to the same spot to avoid adj switch

ASR is the Anti Slip Regulaor or traction control not sure about BAS possibly Brake Assist System sounds like a brake issue or a bad sensor

the release is under the dash for the main lock the safety is by the rt oor left headlight

Must be the ASR control module

first thing I would try, disconnect the battery to the car for a minute, then reconnect it. that may correct your problem.

1. Try cleaning the front brake senor.
2. Replace brake switch (under dash).
3. Check front brake pads for wear.
