Vehicle sounds like starter working but won't turn over engine and the hot leed is getting warm when trying to start could a bad starter relay cause this issue or what could

If you are hearing the starter motor working but not turning engine 3 possible problems 1 the solenoid on the starter moter isnt throwing the starter gear on to the flywheel 2 the teeth on tbe starter are worn 3 the teeth on the flywheel are worn. Remove starter , check gear teeth flywheel and bench test starter

Can hear the starter motor turning over but it does not engage the engine to start it

Sounds like the solenoid has gone on your starter motor, this is the device that throws the gear out of the starter motor to engage the flywheel to crank over the engine. Remove starter motor and bench test to confirm, how to do this is: starter motor removed and in vice, earth the body of motor and where the thickest input wire was is main 12v add a 12v to this, and the small input wire just tap 12v to it and see your motor work if not working then replace starter motor, it should throw gear out and spin

Toyota corolla. replaced battery.starter. positive and negative terminals and wires. starter spins but does not engage flywheel. slight grinding noise from starter when i turn the key off.. help

I remember on several Toyota Corolllas, the starter solenoid would throw the contact plunger back and make contact from Battery to Starter before the Pinion gear on the starter shaft was fully engaged with the Flywheel Gear. Check for wear on the actuating fork pivot point (Bearing), that throws the gear to the back engaging the ring gear on the flywheel, and makes the contact plate short the terminals to provide current to the starter motor

Willies jeep 49 the starter will whinned but motor wont turn over

sounds like the starter's 'bendix' (an internal arm which 'throws' the drive gear out to engage the flywheel) is faulty, remove the starter and take it to your local parts store for a diagnostic.

My starter throws blue sparks when i crank my truck. What needs to be fixed and how do I fix it?

Hello Firefight253

Remember a starter is a DC motor with a Solenoid integrated onto it on GM's. So there is a short to ground either in the solenoid or the windings of the Starter. Replace the starter, or have a shop do it for you. Safety hint Please do not keep turning over the motor this short is just like directly shorting out your batteries they could explode.

Got really cold now it wont start it just spins like it wants to but wont catch.

Your starter has a solenoid that throws the gear on the starter motor into the flywheel to turn the motor over. The small gear is either sticking on the starter shaft or the solenoid is not pushing the gear into the flywheel . You will have to take the starter motor off and bench test it to see what the problem is. It is typically cheaper to buy a rebuilt starter at the local auto store and just replace the starter assembly if it has high miles on it. Be sure to bench test your new starter to make sure it is working correctly before installation.

Starter makes nois for a few seconds after car starts

When the starter is released, the starter solenoid is responsible for returning the pinion gear to the inside of the starter motor, and it sounds like yours might be sticking. Remove the starter motor, and have a parts store test it out for you (they should do it for free) and make sure that the gear returns after the power is switched off. If it does, remove the housing from the solenoid, and give it a good cleaning. I hope this helps you out!

Intermittent starting problem.

I don't think the gearshit motion is related, I do think you have a starter drive issue or a solenoid problem.
