I've lost the 5th light in my Forester's dash and console. The light behind the gas gauge went out 3 years ago. Last year the light behind the spedometer went, and so did the light on the (automatic) gear shift. The clock is off most of the time, and the radio lights off occasionally when it's cold. Last week the light went off behind the RPM meter, so I have no dash lights. Is it likely this is just a bunch of blown bulbs, or an electrical problem? There are no fuses listed for any of these things. It's a 2002 Forester with no other problems.
Have exactly the same problem with my 2002 Forester. How do you get the dash apart? I don't want to bugger it all up by prying into all the wrong places.Have exactly the same problem with my 2002 Forester. How do you get the dash apart? I had a 2000 with leaking fuel lines. There are a few molded rubber lines. Check the condition of the rubber and the hose clamps. If they are wet, you have a leak. When replacing use the good clamps that you can tighten with a nut driver
if the gas gauge reads empty it might be not working properly, and the tank could actually be full. I've seen this time and time again at my station over the past twenty some years. The other posibility could be an obstruction in the filler neck it self. Kids do the darndest things to cars ? LOL. If thats the case then there is Two hose clamps that hold it in place, usually a screw driver or a small socket will work. But first stick a peice of hose in there and try blowing through the hose and listen if you hear bubbles then its full if you hear just air then its empty and blocked. Good luck :- )
it is possible that the battery is faulty, most batteries only have two years warranty, it might be a good idea to replace it anyway because it may not last much longer anyway......hope this helps......cheers
On thedash of my 2003 sedan sebring ,My dash ilumination lights for the speed,temp,tack\rpm and fuel are unlit.
I found that there is a paper thin plastic across and behind all four of these gauges which lights up all four gauges,if working correctly, There is a very poor connection to this thin film lighting system ,basicaly a wire terminal used as a staple and that very well could be your problem.
It as far as I know would require whole gauge assembly replacement! because dealers dont sell such small portions of some assemblies!
I myself will attempt to crimp this poor connection on my car without damaging thin film! there are no bulbs for those four gauges too iluminate!
