I have this problem if I jump in and start the car too quickly. It will shut off and the security light flashes. Thankfully it never happens when I'm on the road! I think it's related to the seatbelt switch. There's a wire under the driver seat connected to a sensor in the seatbelt buckle that tells the computer when the seatbelt is fastened. I tried spraying WD-40 into the seatbelt buckle to clean it, which helped, but it is still loose and intermittent. When it happens the remote won't do anything to get the car unlocked and started. I just have to wait ten minutes for the security system to reset itself.

The security light is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM. These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. Hello: Will try to give you instructions: Attempt to start car, leave key on (security light flashing) let set for 10 minutes, After 10 minutes security light out. Turn key off for ten seconds, turn key on, let set for 10 minutes, turn key off for 10 seconds. turn key back on let set 10 minutes, turn key off for ten seconds, the engine should now start and stay running.
The problem may be your Vats security system. This causes the car to either "not start" or "shut down" while running. (depending on the system) If the security light flashes, i guarantee that this is what the problem is. 1st trick, turn the key forward 2 clicks till right before it would normally start, leave like that for 10 minutes. ( no less ) After 10 minutes, turn key back then forward and your car might start.

Hello: Try this procedure, Turn key on attempt to start engine leave key on, the security light should be blinking, wait 10 minutes. The security light should be off. Turn key off for 10 seconds, turn key back on (DO NOT ATTEMPT TO START) wait another 10 minutes. Turn key off for 10 seconds. Do the procedure again as in step 2. At the end of the third time turn key off then ten seconds later attempt to start the car. It should start.
Check security light, if it is flashing , it is set. try this, turn ignition on, don't try to start, let set for ten minutes on. turn off don't take the key out. do this three times ten minutes each, after the third time turn it off, then try to start. This resets the security. If this does not work, then it needs reprogrammed to the new computer you installed. dealer only, about $100.00 Randy
The security system shouldn't keep you from getting it out of park. Check to see if the security light is flashing. I can tell you how to reset the security system.
did you give them the vin when you bought the ignition,it has to be the one for your car,also might have to relearn the key to the computer,turn key on try to start let go and leave in on position for 10 minuites turn off for 5 seconds,turn back on try to start let go leave for 10 minuites,turn off for 5 seconds ,repeat one last time,takes a little over 30 minuites,to complete,the car thinks your trying to steal it and is disableing the fuel pump
