Where is the oil filter Located on the 2011 Lexus GX460

The oil filter on a Lexus GX460 is a cartridge type filter located at the bottom front of the engine. It is difficult to see without removing the front engine undercover, which is basically a steel plate shield held to the vehicle by 4 bolts. Once the shield is removed, the oil filter housing is visible right behind and just above the stabilizer bar. The housing is positioned sideways and a large pair of channel locks can be used to unscrew the black housing cap. Make sure you have a drip pan ready because a fair amount of oil will drain once the cap is removed. After the cap is removed, it's a simple matter of removing the cartridge filter with your fingers and popping in the new one. A new rubber o-ring should be included with the replacement filter.

Where is the oil filter on a 2008 Chevy Mallibu classic

On the V6 3.6 L it's just above the air condition compressor next to the front exhast manifold, On the 2.4 the oil filter cap points straight up is plastic and has a 32MM or 1 1/4 in nut made into it in needs to be removed with a scocket or a closed end wrench as the plastic will round off or break with plires or an open end wrench. you can put a oil filter strap wrench around it too be theres little room to do this so th socket and extantion is a better idea. If your not handy with tols and car repairs you might leave this job to the pros.

Location of oil filter

The 2007 Tundra 5.7l engine doesn't have a spin on filter - it uses a replaceable paper cartridge within a permanent housing. Located under the skid plate on the front-left portion of the engine, the oil filter unit has two coolant hoses, a black plastic screw-in housing, and a large, metal, round screw with a 1/2" square fitting in the middle of it. The cartridge-type oil filter is in the housing.

If equipped with a skid plate, access is accomplished by removing the 5 skid plate bolts, allowing the plate to swing down on integrated hangars (with the front plastic bumper skirt still attached). To completely remove the skid plate, three small screws holding it to the front plastic bumper skirt must also be removed.

Toyotafilter kits contain a new filter cartridge, a plastic drain plug, and two O-rings. The drain plug is used to drain residual oil from the filter unit prior to removing the plastic screw-in housing. After removing the large, metal, round screw with a 1/2" square fitting in the middle of it, the plug simply snaps into the bottom of the plastic housing. The smaller of the two new O-rings replaces the existing O-ring on the screw.

Once drained, the plastic screw-in filter housing is removed using a filter wrench (Toyota special service tool). The larger of the two new O-rings replaces the existing O-ring on the screw-in housing. VERY CLOSE ATTENTION must be paid in placing the new O-ring - failure to properly seat the new O-ring could result in a massive oil leak! The filter itself is currently only available from Toyota.

this should be what they call a cartridge filter you will need a 1 1/4" socket. there is what looks like a big plastic nut. Remove the plastic nut and pull the filter out. if you do not have an 1 1/4" socket you can go to any parts store and by this tool.

How do I change the oil and filter on my car?

under the vehicle you will see a plastic cover under the engine, remove the 4 13 mm bolts and drop the cover (they give you an access port but its cleaner and easier to just take the cover off) the bolt to drain the oil is also a 13mm on the bottom of the oil pan facing the ground. drain the oil, put the drain plug bolt back in and tighten, don't over tighten! the filter is located up the front of the oil pan on the passenger side, only accessible from the bottom, remove the filter let the oil drain, put some fresh oil on the rubber seal of the new filter and install, make sure to follow the directions on the filter because it will tell you how many turns to put on the filter, overtightening will make it extremely difficult to take off next time! after that, clean up any oil left on the frame and oil pan and install the plastic cover with the 4 13 mm bolts, locate the oil fill cap, remove and refill the engine with the right oil (i believe its 5w30) untill it reads full on the dipstick, put the cap back on and start the engine and let it run for about 10 seconds, shut the engine off and recheck the oil level and fill as necessary. (if you have the 4.2 i think it takes 7 quarts, check your owners manual for the oil type and capacity to be sure) remember to turn the key on with the engine off and pump the gas pedal 3 times to reset the oil life indicator after the oil change is done, hope this helps!

2004 chevrolet trilblazer

There is a plate underneath the engine that is held in by 2 flat head screws. All you have to do is loosen both screws and slide the plate around. The plate just slides around. The drain plug and oil filter are then exposed and easily accessable. The 2004 Trailblazer takes 7 quarts of oil and uses an ACDelco PF61 or Fram PH3675 oil filter. I've read in this FAQ site some info about other filters, so I went down to the local Chevy dealer and talked to a mechanic. He told me the ACDelco PF61 was the correct filter. The Fram PH3675 is the exact same as the PF61.

Oilfilter

You didn't post the size of motor but once you drop the skid plate, you will see it.

The oil filter is under the engine skid plate. You need to remove the trap door to see.
The skid plate door is located by the drivers side door, directly midway underneath the vehicle. You will need a flat or Phillips-hear srewdriver to open the trap door. Don't worry, the screws are 'loss-proof' and will not fall off the trap door plate. Once this has been removed, the oil drain plug and oil filter are now visible and accessable (how smart is that!) Typical oil change and oil filter replacement time = 15-20 mins. for a familiar shadetree. p.s. The Inline 6 (24 valve - 4.2L) takes 7 quarts of oil. Good luck!
