I have yellow light appeared on my dashboard and i don't know what it means. It says check but i don't know what it is askimg me to check. I have a VW polo %! reg.

Headlights failure.
If the yellow symbol appear as soon as you turn on the dashboard, stop's light bulbs may be the problem.
If the yellow symbol appear when you switch-on lights, the problem may comes from the position's light bulbs.
Ensure that all of the light bulbs are fully working.
It means one or more of your tires have low air pressure! Check and adjust pressure. Some cars (like mine) have the spare tire connected to the system also, so check all five.

You have some wiring problems shorting out that is coming from the dash board so if you or anyone you know how to use a multimeter to check the wireing harnesses plus check any connectors that might be just very touching the connector of dashboard which means a bad connection to dashboard.
sounds like your brake lining light. It means your brakes have worn below specification. The light to me kinda looks like a yellow circle with two dashes on one side and two on the other and they follow the curvature of the circle. On an x3 you can get a pretty good view of the brake pads looking through the wheel.
