The problem here is did he put the right transmission fluid in when he changed it? Changing the trans oil is no problem but if he put the wrong oil in you are going to have major problems because you are damaging your transmission everytime you use it. You will need to check the operator handbook in your glove compartment for the correct type of oil or take the vehicle to a transmission shop where they can change the oil and filter.

Take it to the Trans service centre and ask them to check you trans oil but tell them nothing else
You could say its got a forward band starting to slip and the oil needs checking out and ask if there is a g/box leak..
They will think you know what your talking about so they wont sting you then..
But the transmittion fluid is (Red auto trans fluid} .
Let me know how you go Ron

Where do you check oil level for automatic gearbox on vw golf gti automatic dsg 2006

You don't. There are special tools and procedures. You'll have to take it to the dealer, I'm afraid. Hope this helps.

I drive a 1997 golf 3 GTI 16V. The car can't start when the oil temperature goes beyond 88 degrees celsius from the onboard computer, I have to wait for it to cool down for a while before starting. What...

Did you resolve this?
I drive a mk3 golf GTI 8V and mine starts fine but after driving for about 3 minutes (engine warms up) it starts to misfire, the car stalls and then you can't start it again until the engine has cooled. Does this sound similar?

1991 vw golf gti- RPM stop working!

judging by the amount of km it has done i would say the rpm drive is faulty, this measures the amount of rotation in the camshaft and shows the "revolutions per minute". when this goes faulty it stops the read out on the dial, so you want to be looking for a device that measures the speed that the engine is turning, if you have, replace it and it should solve the problem
