It doesn't come on except by the override switch (sometimes) Also, sometimes after the engine is turned off and key is removed, the radio won't shut off. Hope someone has an answer.
I seem to be having the exact opposite problem. I have a 99 chevy blazer and the dome light will not turn off unless I push the override button in. The radio does turn off as soon as I turn off the ignition key. If I leave the dome override button out, the dome light will constantly stay on even while I am driving. It used to work fine. Every now and them it starts working properly, but it hasn't worked right for a long time now. I tested all the switches and they all seem ok. They rear hatch is also closed. Does anyone know what the problem can be and how to fix it?
After taking apart the dashboard for another problem I noticed that the problem that I was having with the dome light staying on corrected itself. It did turn out to be a bad dome light switch. If you remove the 3 screws around your dashboard faceplate for you speedometer and instrument clusters you will be able to snap the faceplate off that has the dome light switch in it. You can try to clean the relays inside the switch with contact cleaner or purchase a new switch and replace it. This should solve your problem. Mine has been working ever since I spayed it with contact cleaner. Good luck!

The radio should not shut off until the drivers door is opened.... the override switch may be bad (dome light)
