92 Paseo starts fine each morning and afternoon. I drive it about 100 miles per day. If I drive it for 45 minutes, kill the engine, and try to restart it only produces a 'relay' click. The battery...

If you only get 1 click per key turn, sounds like the copper contact plate in the starter solenoid is worn. If you keep trying to start it and it eventually turns over click after click, then it more than likely time for a starter, or a starter rebuild if you're handy. The kits are available online for under $40

Location of starter in 93 toyota paseo

Hi,

You could see the loation of the starter on the bell housing of your transmission.
Just follow the big diameter positive(+) cable, going down into the transmission, at the end of that cable is the starter assembly. Easily reconize with a rounded tube on top with wire connected on it.

Hope that helps you out!

Thanks for using Fixya!

1993 toy paseo starting issue

When you twist the key to start, and solenoid is working, the power goes directly to the cable on the other side of the solenoid. If the starter does not turn the engine over, and you KNOW the solenoid is good, then you have a bad cable connection at the solenoid or starter OR the starter itself needs attention. After power goes thru the solenoid, no relay is required. JUST 12 volts.

How can i locate and test the starter relay on a 1993 toyota paseo?

You don't need to.You need to put new contacts in the starter solenoid switch, just take the three 8mm bolts out of the solenoid cover and pull out the plunger and you will see what i'm talking about, the car has no relaly for the starter.

93 Toyota Paseo 1.5 lit, 5 speed will not start when hot

The starter won't get hot while the car is running. The starter only works while you are cranking it over. After running a while and the car is hot, feel if your battery is not over heating. If the vaultage regulator in the alternator is bad the battery may be overcharging causing it to over heat and not want to work when boiling. After it cools down it may work again.
I this will help.

Replace starter

Your second bolt on your paseo comes through the tranny and threads into the starter, It's really weird why they did that. The Tercels all mount through the starter.
