Unfortantly if there is internal damage you will have to replace the engine or have it rebuilt. If the oil light is on then your oil pump may be fualty, replacing the pump may fix your problem, remember if theres considerable engine damage it will need to be rebuilt or replaced. Hope this helps.
This vehicle doesn't appear to have a cabin filter. There is a aerosol spray to neutralize and deodorize that you can buy at most local auto parts stores specially made for the a/c evaporator.
Removing airbag: disconnect battery for 30 minutes before proceeding -- sounds like you know the rest -- just proceed carefully. If the airbag didn't deploy when you punched it, you're not going to set it off easing it out.
This I believe is a SOHC (12 valve) engine. If in fact new valves are required I would purchase rebuilt heads and use yours for cores (each head will cost @ $250) I have done this job on my 1990 montero over a weekend. Just get the right parts, keep it clean, take your time and be patient.
