I have a warning light on my 2008 pack 5 PRIUS. It is a red light with a key symbol. This is not the yellow one that comes on when you leave your key in the car. Everything seems fine except for this light. It seems to flash when unlocked and stay one when locked like the theft deterrent LED used to. There is no mention anywhere of this symbol in the manual HELP!

Try putting key into key slot. Next try replacing key's battery. Good luck.

On page 84 of the 2009 Prius owners manual, the explanation indicates that a flashing key-inside-a-car is normal, and is desired. It should extinguish when the automobile is operating. It may be distracting, but it's a good thing!!

it is not a safety issues . the chip sensor in the car is defective. if it doesnt anoy you dont worry. if the sensor fails to warn you when the key is left inside then you should be concerned.

Acording the online manual , that is the Hybrid system warning light. I havn't tracked down exactly what it means , but is is grouped in with other service reminders. ahh better its yellow and not red brake light it just means the brakes are nearing the time to replace them just having the brakes done will reset the light no scans needed just pushing the calipers back resets it

The Prius has electric power steering. The "PS" in a rectangle means that the computer has detected a problem there. The red triangle with an explanation mark means that the computer has detected a problem with the Hybrid System. Usually it is accompanied by red symbol of an automobile. In any case you should take the car to a dealer who can read the diagnostic codes from the computer and determine the cause of the problem.
