1993 dodge dakota v6 not staring. Fuel pump is

ASD relay ! Is there B+ voltage to the coil's ? Fuel pump relay electrical circuit diagnostic's . Do you have an know how to test with a DVOM digital volt ohm meter ? You can check out wiring diagrams at http://bbbind.com/free_tsb.html ! The ASD - auto shut down relay power's up the fuel pump relay , ignition system an some other thing's . It's in the under hood fuse box !

have you checked spark? ignition module or coil or the coil wire are all common issues

Have you checked base fuel pressure with a gauge ?
Code 42 is a problem with the fuel pump relay or ASD relay circuit.

You need to know if it is getting spark to the plugs and fuel pressure before you start replacing parts.
It could be as simple as the ASD relay.

Was the sending unit replaced

If you get specific about serious wire chasing I will
look things up for you.

If you cannot hear the fuel pump prime up when you turn the key to on there is a fault with your fuel pump. check the fuse in the fuse relay box and the 2 wired connections on the fuel pump, if still no good than replace the fuel pump

You would need to check the fuel pump and injector circuits for power.
There is a fuel pump relay and an ASD relay that could be faulty.

Could be the ASD relay which powers the coil and the computer.
You would need to try to figure out if it is fuel or ignition related to proceed.

• You have an Automatic Shut Down Relay or "ASD Relay" not so much a "switch." The ASD relay inside the power distribution center which is under the hood on the left corner of the engine compartment. Under the lid is a legend that will pinpoint it's location in said box. I would look at this if your having problems with the fuel pump. Should you need to replace the pump the tank must be dropped for this vehicle.

ASD is in the engine compartment fuse block.

The pump relay should be there also. Check your fuse panel in the truck though.

Pull out the fuse panel for access to the blade type fuses
