Sounds like something broke in the clutch area. The clutch has springs in it. In there for harsh shifts And dumping the clutch. But the pressure plate could possibly do this as it is also spring loaded. Changing the fluid would do this. The fluid only lubricates the internal parts. IE.. gears, bearings, ad synchronizers. being low isn't good, but still wouldn't cause this problem.
Now you need to bleed the clutch at the clutch slave cylinder down on the transmission to restore the clutch.
Put a wrench on the bleed valve and open it, then lightly close it. Now have someone pump the clutch a couple of times to build pressure. Then while the clutch pedal is slowly pressed down open the bleed valve, then close valve as pedal gets to floor. Repeat this bleed process until a steady stream of brake fluid comes out the bleed valve. Then you should have a good clutch again.
Check the clutch fluid level. If it's low, add some (takes brake fluid). There is a bleed valve down on the clutch slave cylinder on the bellhousing. Open the bleed valve and have someone push the clutch pedal slowly to floor, and hold. Close the bleed valve, and repeat until fluid comes out in a steady stream when the pedal is depressed. Your pedal should have pressure now, and the clutch should be working. If no fluid is forced out the clutch master cylinder, into the line, and to the slave cylinder when clutch is pressed, then you may have a bad clutch master cylinder. If fluid does come out the bleed valve, but still no pressure on the pedal, it may be a bad slave cylinder. Post back for more. Would like to know what you find out, and what the problem was, OB. Good luck.
The fluid only help disengage the clutch....your pressure plate is not putting pressure on the clutch....if there is not room for adjustment....is has to be replaced. good luck
POSSIBLE CAUSES TO YOUR CLUTCH PEDAL PROBLEM. COULD BE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL LOW CAUSING YOU TO GET AIR IN THE HYDRALIC SYSTEM.IF FLUID WAS LOW CHECK FOR FLUID LEAKS AROUND LINES TO CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER AND CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER.IF FLUID LEVEL ALL GOOD. LOOK FOR A BROKE CLUTCH RELEASE BEARING OR FORK.CHECK FOR BROKEN DIAPHRAGM SPRING IN CLUTCH PRESSURE PLATE.
I don't believe that you would need more transmission fluid if you have a squeel (but for future reference clutch fluid is located with the brake fluid and uses brake fluid DOT 3). Squeeling is usually a tall tell sign that your clutch or pressure plate is going out. Also for future reference the actual transmission fluid will be on the side of the transmission and should say oil, if not it is usually 3 to 5 inches from the lowest point on the transmission and may take a certain weight (80-90W, 75-90W, etc.
CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL.MAKE SURE FLUID LEVEL NOT LOW.IF FLUID LEVEL OKAY BUT TRANSMISSION FLUID LOOK DARK HAS BURNT SMELL CHANGE TRANSMISSION FILTER + FLUID.IF FLUID AND FILTER HAS BEEN CHANGED YOU HAVE THE RIGHT AMOUNT FLUID IN TRANSMISSION AND MANUAL SHIFT LINKAGES PROPER ADJUSTED.CHECK TRANSMISSION FUSE AND SCAN FOR PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE MALFUNCTION FAULT.IF ALL IS GOOD HAVE TRANSMISSION OIL PUMP PRESSURE TEST.YOUR PUMP COULD BE FAULTY OR YOU HAVE WORN LOW ROLLER CLUTCH AND WORN FORWARD CLUTCH PLATES AND LEAKING FORWARD CLUTCH PISTON SEALS.
Check the fluid in the reservoir, it sits up on the firewall on the driver side.
If there is fluid in there you may have what is called a collapsed pressure plate.
The clutch system is just like the brakes and uses hydraulic pressure. If either the slave or mater goes bad there is nothing to put pressure to return the piston attached to your pedal. If you are low on fluid add regular dot 3 or 4 brake fluid and pump the pedal by hand. If the slave or master is leaking you will see it come out. If it is the pressure plate the trans will have to come out to replace the clutch assembly.
Hope this helps.
What you describe sounds very much like the clutch is failing to disengage.
Fluid level being fine and no leaks under the car is good, but doesnt mean there isnt something wrong with either the master cylinder, slave cylinder, or the associated parts.
Highly unlikely there is a fault with the flywheel or clutch as failures with these would normally give no drive in any gear.
they use a hydrolic system wich use fluid if your gears are not grabbing and its slipping no udjucment require because the cluck is bad but if you cant put it in gear when it on then its your hydrolic system
