95 Bonneville 3800 series 2. very little fuel in rail

95 Bonneville 3800 series 2
Engine wants to start, and does fire, but very little to no fuel in rail. On ignition pump pressurizes up to 10psi. (should be 45-55 from my information) and drops to 0 when cranking. Just replaced sending unit and pump (which were both completely shot).

Fixexpert, Hondachopper, RonaldSuboc, Kevin000, Chad7, please step off, you are ALL WRONG, and your info is 100% USELESS.
If you HAD ANY experience re this issue, you would KNOW THE FOLLOWING:

Kkvesr, What you need to look for, is the main ECU ground point at the LF rocker panel rail; lift the carpet to see this, between the seat and the rocker...there are several wires going to a corrugated "star washer". If you are NOT getting a ground pulse in the RED wire, your main ECU ground, at the wire position described above, may be corroded. if so, no injection.
This is a very common problem, unique to the Bonneville.
Please advise me if this helps, and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Yes you just have to swap all the brackets, and poss oil pan and oil pump, and poss intake, which i would do before installing motor due to the fact they are known to leak oil into the coolant.(the ihtake gaskets).

What is the easyest way to remove the power steering pump on a 95 pontiac bonneville

series 2 3800 i presume? you have to remove the alternator and the belt tensioner, use extreme caution with the tensioner, make sure engine is cool, look for a plastic elbow that is on the right side of the tensioner assembly, they break very easily and you have to get the whole tensioner assembly if you break that pipe. once you have the tensioner out there is only 2 bolts on the right side of the power steering pump holding it in. it will come out through the top.

I have a 2000 bonneville 3800 series 2 engine, when the engine warms up it has a tick or knock but its not in the engine it works good. Could it be the flywheel

The sound you are hearing is probably the fuel injectors firing...this is normal to a point but a louder tick may indicate your injectors are becoming clogged. Fill your tank to half and add a large bottle of fuel injector cleaner... the cheaper the better as you want to run this mixture to near empty. After that add half a tank without and I bet your noise decreases ,milage increases , as well as performance. Hope this helps you out ...a reply would be appreciated! Thanks for your question.

What is the firing order for the spark plugs in a 96 pontiac bonneville i think i have them mixed up because my car wont start

If 3800 engine the timing is 1-6-5-4-3-2
If 2.8L or 3.1L or 3.4L timing is 1-2-3-4-5-6

Coil packs on 3800 are (1 / 4, 5 / 2, 3 / 6)
Coil packs on 2.8L or 3.1L are (1 / 4, 6 / 3, 2 / 5) 1995 earlier across the front from right to left.
Coil packs on 3.4L are (5 / 2, 3 / 6, 4 / 1) 1996 across the back from right to left.

I blew the engine but have found a engine in a 1993 will it work they are both 3800

your 95 has a series 2 motor.
the 93 has a series 1 motor.
it would be better to find a series 2 motor to put in it.
there are a lot of things you would have to change to use the 93.
don't think it would be worth the time and trouble to change them.
any pont. 3.8 from 95 and up should work ok.

Has no fire going 2 the plugs

My Bonneville 3800 did the same thing. My brother-in-law (mechanic) told me to change the coil pack module (3 coils sit on top of it). I got a module from a wrecked 3800, put it in, engine runs beautifully!
