2004 PT Crusier Turbo going bad

I took my 2004 PT Crusier Limited Edition with a turbo to the mechanic. They said that my whole Turbo has to be replaced. It is making a sound similar to a plastic bag stuck under the car that is being dragged. What is your advice as to trying to get it fixed.

Fixing turbos is not a job for your local mechanic, even at the dealer. It involves a lot of close tolerances and is best left to places thar specialize in doing that. Hope this helps.

The bearings on the turbo are the issue. when they fail massive and QUICK major oil consumption, just replace the turbo.

Have 2005 pt crusier 2.4 turbo

Its oil. Oil is leaking past the valve seals, letting oil seep into the combustion chambers when sitting. This is a pretty small leak that shows its ugly head when starting it up after it sits a bit. Keep driving it, not a major problem. Just keep an eye on your oil level.

It is hard to tell you what is too much as it all depends on where you live and the shop rates where i live and what i charge is 60.00 an hour what i would normally charge on something like this would be as follows and all labor hours are from chiltons labor guide some shops use a different labor guide which gives them more time to do the job which means you pay more. But here is my labor costs front crank seal that all you need dont try to let them tell you you need the front crank replaced but front crank seal with turbo if your car has turbo would be 2.6 hours so you would multiply that times 60.00 if it does NOT have turbo then the labor hours would be 4.6. It is a good idea while you are doing this to have the timing belt replaced again with turbo 2.3 hours with out turbo 4.6 so you are looking at 4.9 hours with turbo and 9.5 hours with out turbo now these are only labor hours you will still need to factor in parts and labor hours for any additional parts you may want installed. I hope this will help you and give you an idea as to what your cost may run good luck.

If it was my car I would be tearing it down because I couldn't afford to buy a new turbo. Maybe it will come out if you spool up the turbo but if it doesn't there will be a new turbo in your future. Hope this helps.

How do you change a water pump on a 2004 pt crusier?

I'm not sure how mechanically inclined you but to do the water pump on that vehicle is labor intensive and if it is a turbo it is even more so the water pump is located behind the timing cover

2004 saab 9-3 turbo won't accelerate

i am the owner of a 2004 saab 9-3 that had the same problem. the car could barely make it up a slight incline.

after diagnostics, they determined that it was a faulty "pedal travel sensor" (engine code P1238), which cost $590. after labor and taxes, my total came to $747.53. yikes.

sucked to pay that much, but it fixed the problem.
