I cant find the fuel pump relay on my 1990 xj6, anyone help! I am not getting fuel. I checked the filter, it is clear. The fuel pump doesnt seem to come on with key. I ran a jumper wire back to it and turned it on, but it still didnt pump any fuel, even though it was on?

The fuel pump is usually located in/on the fuel tank, but with your jag, it is mounted externally from the tank. Frame mounted design with an inlet and outlet fitting...
Jack up the rear left hand side. Put the car on axle stands. Remove the left hand rear wheel.
You should be able to follow fuel line back to the fuel filter (just
forward of the wheel arch) and then to the fuel pump which is behind
wheel arch, (before the rear silencer/muffler).
One thing though, you might just have a faulty fuel pump relay, which on
your 1990 can be found in the engine bay, left side, attached to the
brake pedal hanger.
If you do decide to remove the fuel pump after all, then depressurize
the fuel system first.
Remove fuel filler cap, disconnect the fuel pump relay, start engine and
wait for it to stall. Turn off ignition, then disconnect battery.
Take all the usual precautions before disconnecting fuel lines, rags, container to catch spilt fuel etc.
make sure any hoses are hooked back up and the same with any wiring to the fuel pump then i would check the to see if the pump is turning on turn the key on and listen at the gas cap to see if you hear the pump whinning if not the pump may be shot but i would check the fuses and relays.
if your fuel pump and relay are new, how about your fuel filter, if your fuel pump is working but no fuel turns out, check fuel pump polarity, if ok, there will be a clogging in fuel lines, take a high pressure air and plug it to fuel outlet in fuel lines test port, allow air to go back up to fuel tank and observe if the air goes, if not, check or change fuel line, if the air goes to tank, direct your fuel relay pin 30 and 87 and check if the fuel runs to the injectors, if not, change a good fuel pump
It's best to buy the subscription to your car here www.alldatdiy.com and read the information on that car, I only have down to 93 and don't know if they are the same. hope this helps.
The fuel pump relay on my 1990 is located on the passenger side under the dash. You have to remove the lower interior panel to expose a number of relays there will be a color guide that tells you which relay is the one for fuel.
Check the voltage with someone cranking the engine. The fuel pump relay is incorperated in the FI relay located under right center of dash. It is a metal relay usually bolted to the floor near the ecm. Double check all the fuses inside and out
hi sometimes on most cars if lift up the back seat ther usually the pump unit on the top of the tank with two pipes coming out of it .if ypu can find the relay for the fuel pump connect the terminals 30 to 87 together you should hear the fuel pump run.alternitavely check the power to the fuel pump with a multimeter you should get 12 volt when trying to start also check for broken wirig to pump.
