Check if security light is on, if so, must reset. To reset, put key in ignition and turn to on position. Security light will start flashing on and off. Leave key in on position until security light stops flashing and turns off completely. This will take approximately 10 minutes. Then turn key off and take out of ignition. Put key back in and start car. Should now start
If it is an automatic shift you should have a neutral safety switch between the key switch and the starter. I would check that and for power at the starter when it fails to crank. If it is a manual shift there is a switch on the clutch pedal or linkage. It may be tough to find until you can duplicate the problem on demand. Could also be a dead spot in the starter or solenoid.

If any of the gauges are blinking and going haywire and the security light flashing then the instument cluster is faulty. But if it is just the security light flashing then its in the switch. If you only had the switch replaced then you need a new ignition lock cylinder because its worn out.
I had the same problem at one time and what the problem was is a short or an exposed wire connected to the starter which causes the voltage to fluctuate which in turn activates a security feature that stops the flow of fuel to the injectors. The car actually senses the possibility of a spark which could possibly ignite the fuel and be a fire hazard. If you turn the ignition on and off repeatedly after a certain amount of time the car will start and run fine. It is a very intermittent problem.
When the vehicles security light is flashing and the car won't start..put the key in the ON position and wait until the security light stops flashing and then turn OFF and then start. this is from a security glitch and it shuts down the gas so car won't start. Good luck!!
