My repairman says that my 2002 xtype Jaguar has a flight simulator error that can only be fixed my a dealer, and the closest dealer is extremely dishonest so I hate to go to him - last time I went he wanted 220. to replace a fog light that they said was burnt out, but when I turned the fog light on it worked perfectly fine, something my local foreign car repair guy quoted would cost 54.00 if it were actually burnt out. Back to the error - the cruise control is not working so I assume the error is possibly related?

More specifically, with the light switch in the "on" position (not the "auto" position), pull the light switch out. First click is the front fogs, the second click is both the front and rear fogs.

here is how: Push and hold the trip computer button on the left stalk, while holding the button turn the ignition ON and OFF several times untill you hear a confirmation tone from the glovebox area, when the tone is heard, release the button and remove the key from the ignition, immediately after push any button on the Key FOB and you'll hear another tone that confirms the programming.

Hello. This tends to be all to do with the ABS. Some models have a reluctor ring on each cv joint near the wheel which looks like a castle moulding, but on mine there is a magnetic strip in the wheel bearing and mine corroded which reduced the signal. This caused the abs light and engine management light to come on. Without abs you cannot use the cruise control. It's not an expensive job to replace the bearing or to replace the cv joint if you have the reluctor ring but beware the dealers will try and sell you a whole drive shaft and this is not needed.

A bad brake light switch can cause cruise to be inoperative . Do the brake lights stay on all the time or not work at all ?
