Best advise is to purchase a Chilton or Haynes Manual from discount parts store such as Autozone,Pep Boys, etc.for that and close other years and follow the step by step procedures for around $20.

Be sure to have flywheel resurfaced by machine shop for maximum clapping power anytime you replace cluch. Follow the procedure in manual for removal/installation.

Transmission slips in 2001 honda civic

Well Katie, I don't want ruin your day, but your trans is failing. Not much you can do at this point except have it repaired/replaced. Honda's very rarely have electrical/control issues with their transmissions. Typically problems are due to a clutch pack or bearing failure, that contaminates the fluid and causes valves in the valve body to stick. Civics in particular are prone to forward clutch pack failures.

When shifting gears in my 1997 honda civic I hear reveing noice, what could be causing it?

If it's an automatic it means the clutches inside the transmition are slipping. Sometimes you can change the trans. oil and filter and save the trany, but more times than not, by the time you hear it slipping (or reving) it's too late to save the transmition.

Honda ballade luxline auto 1996 does it have a clutch.while i am driving it is busy sliding when changing gears

It does not have a clutch in the true sense of the word, it has a torque converter which are two two dishes with vanes in them and the one drives the other by means of fluid. If the fluid in the torque converter and the transmission is low or the linkages or downshift cables are out of adjustment, you will have the symptoms of a "slipping clutch".

2000 Civic stolen, air controls taken, then clutch fell off

Coincidence... in my opinion.

1. In your long drive, you may have set the a/c on "Max" or "recirculate" ... and set the fan on low. This can cause "freezing" the core inside the vehicle; this will create a lot of pressure in the compressor and the clutch will slip.
The "freeze" will cause the air to feel warmer; because the refrigerant is not circulating correctly.

2. Also, if there was oil or some other lubricant on the clutch, the clutch would slip, heat-up and fall apart.

3. The "fixed" a/c controls may have left the "vent" (non-circulating) control disconnected so that the inside core is unable to receive any "outside" warm air to keep the core from freezing... (possible)

Hope this helps ... comments anyone??

Hi i was on motar way approchig the slip rd and it

With no sight of the vehicle, I suspect that you get a lot of movement on the CLUTCH pedal before you feel resistance, when pushing down, or alternately NO free play at all when you press down. Both indicate clutch drag, which requires adjustment of, or replacement of, the CLUTCH CABLE, which ever the case may be.

1996 Honda Civic

What the previous owner told you could be correct(that is 33mpg), B16A1 Vtec engine were made for power and fuel efficiency. Your clutch upgrade would not affect your fuel consumption unless you feel anything slipping during acceleration. I say you give your engine a good tune up and compare the milage again.
