2003 Hyundai Santa Fe. Driving about 10 minutes-stop at redlight and all dashboard lights come on and brakes feel locked. Have to restart ignition and then it's fine. Happened about a month ago as well. Car has 40,000 miles on it and has a V6. Any ideas before we take it in? Car was in an accident in 2003-hit on left front wheel and driver's side door and had to be towed. Key was locked in ignition and front axle was bent-don't know if this is relevant.

Whenever this warning light or any other stays on in the dash it is indicating that the systems control module (or the system sensor in the case of lights like low oil pressure, door open indicators etc.) has detected a fault, it then disables the system (this applies to ABS,TCS, TCM, SRS and BCM faults and others) as long as the light is on. You must now have the dealer hook up a special electronic diagnostic tool and "scan" the system for the fault code that is stored for the problem(s)

I had a similar problem with my Santa Fe. It occurred intermittently but after I turned the steering wheel to the left. After much screwing around by the dealer and trying to baffle me with BS we heard about a strange solution. I am not a mechanic but the problem somehow related to a spring in the Airbag on the steering wheel. Changed the spring and "Stone the flame'n crows" problem solved. Never had a problem since.

could be a bad crank sensor, a bad crank sensor will let car run for a while then shut down and will not start for 10 to 15 min. and it will repeat this cycle if not fixed.the crankshaft position sensor provides the ignition module and pcm with a crankshaft position signal. the module uses this signal to determine spark for each cylinder. the pcm uses this signal for proper timing of engine.

2055 Santa Fe. Drove fine, parked for a few hours, battery light on and parking light on, no power steering. Help?

when does it lock up? while driving? or with it off key out? it should lock with the key out thats normal if while driving you may have an ignation lock problem

try resetting adaptive values to see if that helps. remove both battery cable terminals and hold them together for about 30 seconds to discharge all power. reconnect and drive.

I had the same problem with my 2003 santa fe. Do you have any brake lights out in back? Weird as it is, as soon as I fixed a burned out brake bulb, my cruise worked again. The only relation I can think of is that tapping the breaks causes cruise to turn off - so maybe a broken brake/tail light passes a singal to cruise control from some reason???

If your Santa Fe has a V6 engine 2.7L , it sounds like you have an ignition break down happening. You will need to renew all the ignition wires and check the two coils also for arcing .

it sounds to mee like the brake power booster or abs is acting up.if you dont feel safe driving it use it as a trade in for another vehicle that you feel more comfortable with
