Get the airbag fixed and the horn cover will be fixed too. It's a safety item that is required by federal law.

As your uncles suggested, Airbags are sophisticated mechanism. If you try to repair, maybe but may NOT be you may get them fine. Better, contact Authorized Service Station and confirm whether that feature is completely restore able.

Car horn not working

Often times when the air bags deploy the horn buttons are damaged, the quick solution would be to install a push button to ground the horn wire. Just hook one side of the button to ground and the other to the horn wire.

If I replace the airbags in my 2001 Dodge Stratus SE Coupe can they be from a junk yard? If not can I just replace the driver one? If I choose not to replace them will that be dumb? Just wondering.

intact and never used air bags can be used from the same make of vehicle from the junk yard
if they have never been deployed then get the entire dash with the air bags
replace the steering wheel center as well from the junk yard
not having them is really not a good idea as a smashed head is not an option if you or your passenger want to survive
unfortunately it has been reported here that cars have been stolen for the express purpose of un-deployed air bags and that would make the price from the junk yards close to service dealer parts price
the replacement of the air bags and any damaged dash should be covered in the insurance to fix the car

My 1999 Chevy malibu horn does not work after an the airbags delpoyed

If your not going to fix the horn plate in the column. Wiring a horn button is easy. You need a hot lead from the fuse panel to the after market button and from the other side to the horn button under the hood unit (grill area). Most horn unit are self grounding.

98 Saturn SL1, Was in accident: Deployed Airbags & Horn questions

The light should go out after you replace the sensor that should be in the front of the vehicle. You can check the fuse for the horn. However, some of the airbags that don't come from a dealers, don't deploy, but there is no way of knowing that until you are in an accident.

Replace original steering wheel

Here's a site that will explain everything you need to know about airbag lights and resetting the system. http://www.airbagsolutions.com/ This website gives you the procedure for diagnosing and resetting airbag lights. See if your car is listed here. Although it's a pay site ($14.95/day), it's a lot cheaper than going to the dealer http://www.airbagsolutions.com/vehicles_list.aspx On most vehicles, the airbag light should come on for @6 seconds, and then go off if the system is working properly. If there is a fault or a problem in the system, the light will remain illuminated, or flash continuously. If the airbag light does not work properly, some vehicles have an audible tone that sounds indicating a problem with the airbag light system. When the light is on (or the tone is sounding), the airbag will NOT deploy, even in an accident. The flashing light on your car is telling the answer you need. On some vehicles, the light is flashing a two digit code. Once you know the code, you can most likely repair it yourself. There are fairly easy procedures that most people are capable of repairing. Airbagsolutions.com has the fault code charts to tell you what is wrong and how to fix it!
Some vehicle manufacturers accommodate systems without a scanner (like Toyota, Lexus, Nissan, Infinity, Honda, Acura, Ford, Lincoln, Mazda & Mercury) and some require a scan tool.
