Installation

  1. NOTE: If a new power steering pump is to be installed, the unions that are supplied fitted to the pump should be removed and saved for future use.
Using the special tool, install a new O-ring seal.
    1. Push the new O-ring seal onto the special tool.
    1. Locate the tool over the union and ease the O-ring seal onto the union.

It's pretty basic, there is a high pressure line that goes from the pump to the rack, then a low pressure line that goes from the rack back to the pump.

Car is leaking power steering fluid can u give me the diagram for the high pressure power steering line

We do not have a diagram but follow the high pressure hose from the PS pump to the steering gear, clean it off with a pressure washer first and then you can id the leak which will be the high pressure hose I bet..

How to replace high pressure hose on a 1994 Silverado Chevrolet pick up truck.

hmmm..which high pressure hose the a/c or power steering hose...if its the a/c u need to take this to a service center. removing the high pressure hose without recovering the freon can cause serious injury.it is under extreme high pressure at all times even when the truck is not running... if its the power steering hose then start by removing the plastic shield in the steering staft at the steering box on the drivers side frame loosen the 18mm line nut then follow it to the other line nut on the back of the power steering pump....but sometimes the pump may need to be removed to to this, if this is the case i recommend u take it to a service center

How to install a power steering high pressure line on a 1998 olds 88 regency

Hi,
You will need line wrenches to get the line off the steering gear assembly (tight in there near the frame sub assembly) First you will want to remove the drive belt from the power steering pump. Then remove the bolts from pump to bracket and lift pump up. On back of pump, remove low pressure line and drain fluid into a container. Under pump, remove high pressure line, and push it downward toward floor. From under car, follow the line to the steering gear, ( the line may have a keeper clamp or two for stationary support to remove along the way) then detach. Installation is reverse of disassembly........Not fun, but doable.....Mike

Trying to find my power steering leak< i need a hose diagram

There are only two that go from pump to the rack and pinion. The high pressure hose, which has partial metal line with high pressure hose crimped to it and the return line which is mostly just rubber hose with some regular clamps to hold it to the metal part coming out of the rack and pinion.

NEED DIAGRAM FOR POWER STEERING SYSTEM

There is usually no diagram for the power steering on a vehicle. On power steering you have a pressure line and a low pressure return line. The pump is located on the front of the engine and has a line that is bolted into it, this is the pressure line coming out going to the steering gearbox where it is bolted in also. The other line has a clamp holding it in place, this is the low pressure return line coming back from the gearbox. If the gearbox is the rack and pinion steering type then you may have a couple of extra high pressure lines on it to operate the rack portion of the steering. Good Luck, RAC
