1997 Cadillac Deville Concours Trunk will not close!

Never had a problem until today with the trunk! When I push the release button can hear it clicking. Checked the fuse and it's fine. Two questions: 1) Is there any way to make this a manual locking trunk at little cost ? If not then 2) How can I repair cheaply! Have spent soooo much money on this car this year and am about ready to send it packing! Thanks!

Have some one sit on the trunk to push it down while you release it then when they get off it should open. The trunk is just out of adjustment To make the trunk manual remove the trunk motor.

Latch mechanism is probably motorized. Gently pushing the trunk lid down slides the lid/latch bar into the mechanism. this pushes a tab inside the motorized latch and the drive motor pulls the lid down tight and secure. you may be able to test the latch mechanism by sliding a pen or screwdriver into the latch groove to simulate the lid coming down. if you see the motor drive engage, and pull down the tool, you at least know this is working.

Look if the engine is doing what you say then it is overheating and there is no problem with the sensor, remember the sensor only tells what is going on, it does not cause anything like overheating. Have you bled the system of air, there is a factory procedure to do this.

My 1987 Cadillac fleetwood D'elegance trunk wont open, even when i push the trunk release button in the glove department

Do you hear a click noise at all? You could try this.. One person sit on the truck lid, (heavier may be better) relieving the lift tension on the lock, while the other person push the button and hold. Sitter then hops off and pulls up on the trunk lid. If not working, Sitter person could try gently bouncing on the trunk lid while you hold the button.
Groceries still in trunk after 3 months???
If no joy, then you need someone to replace or remove the lock and pop it with a screwdriver.

My husband and I have a 1994 Cadillac Seville STS with a trunk release malfunction. We have tried to open the trunk by inserting the key in the lock, but the key will not turn. Until today, we were...

Does the key you have open the driver door? Do you have a keyless entry key fob, does it work? you also might try removing the glove box and disconnecting the wires from the trunk button and touching them together with a paper clip or other small wire but before you do that look in your owners manual a determine which fuse is for the trunk release and check the fuse then the last would be to have GM dealer check to see if the key you have is the proper key fror your car and if it may be worn out

Cadillac 96 deville - Trunk won't close

Try spraying the inner portion of it with some WD40 or similar lubricant. It sounds like something must be stuck. After you spray it, keep working the key and pushing the remote until you get some results. Good luck. Let me know how you make out.
