1992 Honda Accord LX intermittantly shifts correctly

I have 1992 Honda Accord LX that has intermittant problems shifting correctly. The main relay and TCM have been replaced, the fluids are good, but recently some strange things I have noticed when it does not shift correctly are that (sometimes) the brake sensor light is on, but not always, The "D4" light is always on when does not shift correctly, also when it is in this state I do not have to press the brake to take it out of Park, and when I do press the brake I do not hear the Neutral safety switch click.
Any suggestion?

Testimonial: "Thanks for the help, but it turn out to be a failed (rebuilt) TCM. After replacing it a second time the transmission has been shifting correctly."

You have an internal transmission failure, have a transmission repair shop look at this and be prepared to have it removed for repair and rebuilding.

Your external transmission shift solenoids are bad. There are two of them(mounted on the front, upper part of the transmission) that need to be replaced to get the transmission to shift properly again. As to your main relay question, it seem from what you described, someone may have rewired your ignition to get the car started possibly when the main relay previously failed. You will have to take it to a good mechanic who can rewire it back to factory condition.

Honda problem

Replace the "main relay" write down your VIN call the dealer, or very good parts store, and order the Main Relay. There is a good chance the dealer has it in stock. It is located under the dash behind the change drawer. Its a black or grey relay and has a # on it like RZ-0064  This is a very common intermittent problem.

Intermittent fuel pump relay, need help I have a 1992 Honda Accord LX. I'm not gettng fuel pumped all the time. I suspect an intermittent fuel pump relay. The fuel pump was replaced 4 months ago.

try tapping on it a bit or banging on it, but before you do, let me tell you that you need a new fuel pump or the hose could have something in it blocking flow or something.
