Dash lights are out

I have a 1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport. Previous owner states that the dash lights went out after new radio was installed. I had the whole dash open and checked all the wiring which appears to be good. Fuse is good and just yesterday changed the light switch. No wires look melted. Other than the drivers side kick panel fuse box and the one under the hood on passenger side, is there anything else I can check?

You have all the fuse locations. I have seen some that after radio was put in did that. usually it turns out that re-grounding the dash or using different power supplies for the radio has corrected it. otherwise, I'd check the light switch and make sure it's OK.

if you beat on the bottom of the dash where youre knees are it will probably come on common problem, on my 98 i pulled the cluster (not hard) and took a pair of needle nose pliers and just slightly twisted all the pins that go into the back of the cluster to make better contact than put dilectric grease on them

Changed radio instramentpanel gages lights went dead

You probably touched a wire wrong and blew the fuse for nighttime illumination, same fuse that lights up the dash. Also, you might've hooked up the vehicle illumination wire wrong in the back of the new radio, causing a short and the fuse blew

Dash and shifter lights in 1996 jeep cherokee wont light

Hello and welcome to FixYa . Locate the dial that controls the brightness of the dashboardlights. If the control is not immediately evident. Make sure the brightness control is turned on. If it is and the lights aren't working, the problem may be a bad fuse. Check the fuse that controls the dashboard lights Replace the fuse if necessary. If just one part of the instrument panel is not lighting up, then you have either a burned-out bulb or a wiring problem.

My running lights/dash lights are not working on a 1996 Cherokee

I looked in a Haynes manual and it showed a 20 amp fuse controlling the the dash/ taillights. I t sould be in the fuse block under the the driver's side dash. If you have your owners manual, there should be a fuse locator diagrahm to help you locate the right 20 amp fuse. Remember usually when your dash lights are out so are your tail lights.

1994 Jeep cherokee am/fm radio backlight lamp is out and AC/Heat dash lamp is out

There is a tiny little peanut shaped light bulb inside the radio that provides the light for the dial, it is replaceable, you will need to remove the radio, then pull the top cover off the radio chassis, the bulb is under the cover.
