While driving my 2002 BMW X5 the check filler cap warning was displayed on the info panel. The cap was checked, no apparent damage and appeared to have been placed on properly after refuel. A few miles later the service engine light was displayed.
The car runs smoothly and does not feel as if it is losing power, starts properly and maintains the same gas mileage.
If the correction has been made does the service engine light reset automatically or will I need to reset it to see if the problem is corrected.
