If it's the same as my 94 I think the answer your looking for is drill out the rivets (replace them with bolts). First remove the glass (also riveted in). The regulator ( without motor attached) comes out of the glass opening in the top of the door. Getting the interior door panel back on was the hardest part.

Local autoparts store to get a haynes manual or at minimum a repair diagram. Autozone usually has them in step by step format.

Where is fuse box on 1997 mercury marquis

All windows are on the same fuse in your vehicle.
If one window is not working, it is either a switch problem, a motor problem, or a regulator problem.
You will need to remove the door panel and see if the motor is getting voltage when the switch is actuated. If there is voltage at the motor connector when the switch is actuated, check to make sure that the regulator mechanism hasn't seized due to lack of lubrication (they are supposed to be lubricated annually but nobody remembers to do it.... then they seize).
If you can HEAR the motor turning but it is not moving the window, the plastic gear in the motor assembly has broken off. Chances are you will need to replace the window motor.

Motor works window does not go up drivers side 1997 grand marquis

u most likely have a bad gear pak in ur window motor, which can b serviced seperatly, or u have a window regulator that consists of plastic pulleys an steel cables monted on stamped steel frames, which are weak designs an almost always fails causing condition u decribed. if u remove dr panel u can see a bad regulator by noticing cables jus layn around not hooked to anything,or cables not routed thru the small plastic pulleys.if all ur cables are intact the gear pak which consists or plastic parts for safety reasons, has gone bad an can b serviced without buyng a new mtr, jus purchase the gear pak install an ull b bak in business. good luck

How do you change window regulator with window motor on a mercury grand marquis 98

You have to remove door trim panel for access. I can load steps on Monday, but go to ebay and type in grand marquis window regulator in ebay motors and look at pictures of regulators for sale to see what they look like.

Are you sure you just don't need motor? There are 3 dimples in inner door panel to drill 3/8" holes to remove motor bolts.

How to replace passenger side outside mirror on a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis?

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. You can then remove the bolts securing the mirror onto the door
