Sounds like starter motor given your slow to no turnover, I assume your new battery has full charge, if not, check with meter, it may be a defective battery, or another issue with connections, did you clean cable connections when you put in new battery? I assume your engine was running properly before battery change and is not partially seized due to overheating or low oil.
What's missing ? Fuel , spark . What condition is the battery in ? Fully charged 12.6 volts . When you turn the key to start does the starter spin the engine ? A crank no start or nothing happens when you turn the key to start . Videos on youtube ! Crank no start or no crank no start .
KEY CYLINDER IS STUCK IN CRANK MODE. PUT IN KEY AND TURN OFF , IF THAT DOESNT WORK, REPLACE CYLINDER. KEY IN THIN SCREWDRIVER FROM UNDER CYLINDER SLIDES OUT, DROP IN NEW ONE. SHOULD WORK
you have to do that cycle 3 times, battery needs to fully charged.
Hood to stay closed, doors also(roll down the drivers window)
Kill the DRL headlights if possible(try putting the E-brake on)
Crank and leave key on,10 min or till light goes out, then key off,,no need to wait 5 min here, crank again.leave key on,,,,,3 times.
By the way, disconnecting the battery in that vehicle will not do anything like clear codes or memory, may need the radio code in the owners manual also.
To clarify - the engine cranks then starts. If it won't crank in any gear, I would check the neutral safety switch first. You can also jumper the starter solenoid to make sure the starter will crank the engine manually without the circuit from the key switch.
could be a bad ( tps ) sensor it registers the amount of pedal you give it so it knows how much fuel to give the engine if the starting volts are not where they should be it won't start.
Make sure your battery is fully charged. If the battery is fully charged make sure your starter is engaging, or trying to start the van. If it just clicks or sounds like it is spinning really fast have your starter checked. You can remove it and most auto parts stores will check it for free or mechanic shops might charge a small fee to do it. If the starter is trying to turn over the van and it won't crank you may have bigger problems. If the starter won't turn over the engine you can check it yourself by trying to turn over ther engine by hand. You will need to remove the spark plugs and turn it by putting a socket and ratchet on the harmonic balancer retaining nut and turning that. If the engine won't turn or is very difficult to turn with the spark plugs removed then you could have internal damage. You'll have to decide at that point wether it's something you want to do or get professional help. Gl
