HOW CAN i DISSABLE THE IMMOBILIZER ON MY 1999 FORD FESTIVA ? I have no smart key or alarm keys They didn't come with the car and I'v never had a problem b4, but all of a sudden My ignit is dead exactly like an immobilizer is on?

fob doesnt control immobilizer key has security set up --fob is designed to open and lock doors and reset alarm ---and no bypass to immobilizer

ignition cylinder replacement can be DIY but programming the keys has to be a dealership work. it has to be programmed together with the car immobilizer

to reprogram new key first you need to use 2 factory program keys.place first factory key in the ignition first turn ignition on for 3 seconds. then turn off ignition then install second factory in the ignition on position for 10 seconds.when immobilizer warning lamp begins to flash a acoustic signal is emitted.within 60 seconds. switch ignition off and remove key.then insert new key and switch on for 10 seconds a acoustic signal is emitted and immobilizer warning lamp remain illuminated for 3 seconds indicating programming completed.if all fails dealership has to reprogram new keys.

TRY RESETTING IMMOBILIZER BY PUTTING THE IGNITION KEY IN THE IGNITION SWITCH.TURN KEY TO THE ON POSITION WITH ENGINE OFF UNTIL IMMOBILIZER WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATES FOR 3 SECONDS.THEN TURN OFF THE SWITCH THEN TRY TO START THE ENGINE.IF IMMOBILIZER IS OKAY.CHECK FOR A BLOWED 40 AMP STARTER FUSE OR YOU HAVE FAULTY STARTER RELAY.

To my knowledge, you assumption is correct on most designs. That wire should go to the ignition switch and will be hot when key is in START. However, same wire often would be connected first to a relay that is interlocked with some conditions/status other then key to START. They would be:

• automatic transmission should be in neutral/park with light indicated;
• alarm/security/immobilizer is inactive/OFF.
